ARLAC Committee of Senior Officials Hosts High-Level Symposium on Evidence-Based Policy

Posted October 27, 2025

As part of its annual meeting held in Lilongwe, Malawi from 6–10 October 2025, the ARLAC Committee of Senior Officials convened a high-level symposium titled “Empowering Policy: Evidence-Based Approaches to Labour Migration and Green Economy Development.”
The session was expertly facilitated by Mr. Naren Prasad, Head of Education and Training for Research at the International Labour Organization (ILO). His insights underscored the critical role of Evidence-Based Policy Making (EBPM) in shaping responsive, inclusive, and forward-looking labour strategies.
For accounting officers and senior officials in labour ministries, EBPM is not just a technical tool — it is a strategic imperative. It enables ministries to justify policy choices, allocate resources effectively, and align national priorities with global labour and sustainability goals. In the context of labour migration and green economy transitions, EBPM ensures that interventions are grounded in data, adaptable to change, and accountable to stakeholders.
This symposium marked a significant step in strengthening ARLAC’s commitment to capacity building and policy innovation across member states.
